Lifesmithing with Dr. Karen McCleskey
There are blacksmiths, wordsmiths, metalsmiths, all kinds of smiths. So why not a lifesmith? A smith is someone who forges something. How about we all learn to be our own lifesmiths and we *forge our lives into something we are happy and proud of? That's what we're going to do on this blog AND on http://www.drkarenmccleskey.com. *to move ahead steadily with determination; to persevere, advance; make progress. Ready? Then let's all take a deep breath and jump.
My Hope For You....
I sincerely hope that the information in this blog brings you much happiness, joy, and success.
Thank you so very much for being here.

PUTTING MY BOOKS IN A NEW PLACE. YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THESE.....
(Yeah, I know the green & purple cover really sucks. Actually, it seriously sucks. I'll be going with the white cover above it.)
O.K., I'll Put A Real Header
All this header issue is Seth Godin's fault. Visited his blog today and loved how he doesn't have a header so that he basically gets more bang for his buck for his blog. That's a lot of B's.
Anyway, looks like I'll be putting a Header on each post from now on. Just re-did it and I'm really liking it, although I do like Seth's better.....
Oh, yeah, almost forgot: Re: Alain de Botton, here's the exact quote from a previous post where his quote had a bit of paraphrasing :
“When you look at the Moon, you think, ‘I’m really small. What are my problems?’ It sets things into perspective. We should all look at the Moon a bit more often.” — Alain de Botton

You can check out his talks, which are fantastic, by the way, by going to http://www.ted.com and putting his name in the Search bar. If you're not familiar with TED, please check it out. I'll be honest here: the only addiction I have other than sweet tea, is TED.com. I'll be referring to it a lot in future posts and hope you'll go check it out.
A Great Place For All Kinds of Helpful Information (and just about all of it is FREE)
Please go to http://www.drkarenmccleskey.com and check it out. You'll get so much good stuff. Really. Plus a whole lot of FREE stuff!
This is so great! Really
If you read the post with the title Off To A Great Start, then you're going to love this;
After I wrote the 2nd post, which at the time, I thought was the first one because I thought I had lost it, the first (real first) turned up. I think this is a powerful life lesson, but I don't know what the lesson is. Maybe figuring out what the lesson is is the lesson.
Next post will be # 4. Unless it's not.
Great quote for this post from a guy I admire very much. His name is Ken Robinson. Here's what he's got to say:

My hunch is that I'll probably come up with a few original things.....
**We can all learn a lot from Ken Robinson. To get a sense of who he is and what he offers, go to http://www.ted.com and put his name in the Search box.

NEW BLOG AS OF OCT. 24, 2012!
Why in the world am I blogging? I asked myself that question hundreds of times. I finally came up with the answer: I believe the information I'll be posting will answer some very important questions you may have. Information/questions about relationships of all kinds, business information for psychotherapists, suggestions for having a life that works, and about figuring out how to live a life that makes a difference. Anything else that I believe should be shared. Tall order, huh? That makes it even more exciting. I believe I'm finally up for the job now. I went a very long time believing that I basically wasn't up for anything. I don't believe that any more. I truly, really know a lot of stuff and I believe it's time to share it. Please know that none of this means I see my self as some guru. Look the word up. You'll see why that's not me.
Then who am I? Someone who believes it's time to share.
Whew, finished with first post. I wonder what the next one will be.
Almost forgot: I plan to have a lot of fun doing this. One thing that will increase my fun level is having absolutely no discernable consistency with the way this blog will look. I'm through trying to perfect things. I have good things to share. I plan to focus on that. Think content, not looks.
I like this quote so I'm going to share it with you:
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
Dr. Martin Luther King
I just took the first step.

Off To A Great Start......sort of.
I just spent about 30 minutes composing what I believe to be an excellent first post. I thought I saved it, but I guess I didn't or I hit some button that does things I don't even know about yet. Bottom line: the whole, as in entire, post is gone. Here's the lesson I learned: well, hell, I don't know the most important thing I learned. So many options ran through my mind. Think I'll choose this one: anger and frustration generally don't change anything except our blood pressure. Somewhere, somehow, I made a mistake re: the first post. Guess what? I remembered a quote by a fellow named Alain de Botton. I am paraphrasing very badly here, but I think you'll understand what I'm getting at.
He said something to the effect that we should look at the moon more because it helps us put things in perspective. I made a mistake. In the course of a lifetime, that's nothing.
I'm putting the quote I had in the lost post ( I hate that those words don't rhyme). It made sense in the first post and it makes sense in this one:
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
Dr. Martin Luther King
Just want to let you know that I definitely do not see the whole staircase. Hell, sometimes I don't even see the house the staircase is in, but I have chosen to take the first step. I think that's what this blog may be about.
